Welcome to Cinema Train, the little piece of the Internet where I write about movies. I created this blog on June 11, 2012, for the purpose of (surprise, surprise) sharing my opinions on the films that I watch. Since then, I’ve come to realize that there are plenty of film bloggers who review movies for that exact same reason, but that’s ok. I enjoy this blogging thing; it’s become a hobby of mine and I believe it’s helped me become a better writer. Of course, the experience is much sweeter knowing that there are people who enjoy what I write; so thank you for taking the time to visit and read this.
I chose the name “Cinema Train” from the following famous words of the legendary film director, Jean-Luc Godard: “Cinema is not the station. Cinema is the train.”. In all truth, I’m still not sure what Godard meant, but the more I think about that quote, the more I am convinced that “Cinema Train” was the right name for this site. Godard’s words avoid easy interpretation, but the fact that I chose them to embody my ideas about movies is extremely appropriate. For me, “Cinema Train” represents that seemingly indescribable, romantic feeling I get during a great cinematic experience, something I’ve felt numerous times and am always trying to convey in my writing.
John Huston described it like this: “In pictures, if you do it right, the thing happens, right there on the screen.” This site and all of its content is dedicated to finding and championing those special movies, the ones in which “the thing happens.” Those are the films that I like reading about the most, and I believe that many movie-lovers feel the same way. If that is the case for you, then you have come to the right place. There isn’t much need for me to say anymore, but feel free to join in on the conversation whenever and wherever you’d like to. And once again, thanks for reading!

I really love your blog! It is clear, interesting and very inspiring. Keep up the great work!
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
Hey Cinematrain, I’ve been enjoying your Wes Anderson month very much. Rushmore has always been my favorite. None of his other films made me toss the feelings of hate and love more often with Bill Murray than any of his other films.
My name is Jay Cardenas, and I just wanted to let you know about my feature film project on kickstarter.
The project is called ‘OVER EXIT OUT’. We think that our film directly addresses issues associated with bullying and self-harm . We think it would be a great fit for your readers.
We would love for you to feature, mention, or otherwise talk about the project. Please take a second, check it out (http://kck.st/ZgRuuU), and let us know what you think.
I have also linked some images for you along with a description of the project. Feel free to call me with any questions @850.509.1896
Thanks,
Jay Cardenas

You have a lovely blog here Garrett! June 11th is my birthday, so awesome choice in starting your blog on that day! I hope you have many more wonderful years blogging about movies! You’re already doing great! Thanks for the follow! 😀
Sounds like you’ve got a birthday coming up soon 🙂 Thanks for the encouragement and for stopping by! Btw, I read your “Big Fish” review on your blog and thought it was great. I really love that movie and it’s probably my favorite Tim Burton film.
No problem. I see you’ve been a twitter follower on my original twitter too (I have two twitter accounts). Yes, Big Fish has a special place in my heart for so many reason. I’m going through basically the same thing with my mom who has stage 4 cancer and is going downhill fast this year. 😦 Thanks for the comment back!
